Flower Power

Part 54 ~ 27 August 2025

Posted: 25 April 2026

Good morning from Floral Paradise! I've just mixed up my first batch of home-recipe Full Stack Salad – my forever food for my forever world. This stuff ain't cheap to make though! I've run out of supplies after making just 24 of these. So my next order of business is to secure my supply of ingredients. Most of these are in mass production, but a few still need the shifting floor farm treatment – and there's the small matter of transport infrastructure to figure out while I'm at it!

I'll offer a handy guide to the Full Stack Salad, since it's a mod and all, plus where all this stuff is going on in my world :) The Full Stack Salad restores 6 food points and 20 saturation, completely filling the saturation meter. For reference, a golden carrot gives the same 6 food but a somewhat lesser 14.4 saturation, and the dandelion suspicious stew can restore up to 21.2 saturation (spread over a short time) if you're regenerating health.

The full stack salad consists of nine ingredients; seven flowers and two fungi:

  • Poppies, available from the iron farm at Elaville, could also be bonemealed in Floral Paradise
  • Oxeye Daisies, obtained from the Daisy Duper at Floral Paradise
  • Cornflowers, obtained from the Cornflower Copier at Floral Paradise
  • Dandelions, obtained from the Dandelion Duper at Floral Paradise
  • Red mushrooms, which can be farmed at the tree farm at the far end of Floral Paradise
  • Brown mushrooms, also obtainable from the tree farm
  • Alliums, which can be bonemealed in flower forests
  • Orange tulips, also from bonemeal in flower forests
  • Blue orchids, obtainable from bonemeal in... NOT flower forests, but swamps!
Crafting recipe (shapeless) for the Full Stack Salad: Red mushroom, brown mushroom, oxeye daisy, allium, poppy, orange tulip, dandelion, blue orchid, cornflower.

Here's a quick refresher on the geography of my world. Floral Paradise sits at roughly -1050x (west) and -650z (north). Elaville, the site of my poppy stash, is a short distance west of spawn, at -350x +50z. Mitosis Swamp, my designated slime-hunting and frog-breeding area, is way out northwest at -2500x -2100z. I do have a nether roof link from Elaville to the swamp via the Hellevator, but it's a little bit... lazy? to just fly over the nether roof all the time. So my mission today is twofold: farm the remaining flowers, and scope out the nether for a highway route.

A partial map of a Minecraft world. Three areas are outlined and labeled: Mitosis Swamp, Floral Paradise, and Elaville. At each location are images of the flowers available there.

Well I know what my next move is. I found my allium patch already; it's right next to the dandelion patch! So I made an offering to the Redstone Power, as is my new tradition, and – Hocus Pocus Redstone! We have ourselves the Allium Accelerator! (I'm getting good at building this by now.) Then I found a massive tulip patch by the river to the south, which promptly became the Orange Tulip Overdrive. I'm having way too much fun naming these things :P

Now, how to make a transport lane from Floral Paradise to Mitosis Swamp? Let's have a cheeky peek through the nether walls and see what we can find. What's this? A nether portal in a basalt pit, directly to the west? It looks familiar, but it's not where the swamp should be... Oh yeah, that's the link to the End Portal at Pink Sheep Plains! How about I make a Soul Speed road to there? As with the diagonal road I'm branching off, this is spawnproof by default as long as I keep it to 2 blocks in width, because Basalt Deltas mobs need 3 blocks to spawn in. Though I'm adding carpets now so that's only a concern while it's under construction.

I raised the portal up to be level with the tunnel, and also added a glass roof to stop magma cubes from falling down from the cliffs above. I popped up there with a little scaffolding ladder to explore around – it actually leads into open nether, and the region of the swamp portal, which is neat! Though of course it's treacherous basalt fields with a low ceiling, which isn't ideal for walking or flying, and there's a fortress near that portal with blazes potentially in range. We're gonna want a sneaky tunnel, not an exposed flight path. Regardless, progress is progress, and we have a shortcut to the end portal now.

I went back home to gather supplies for my final flower farm, and emerged to find that the skies were dark YET AGAIN. Well, no harm in trying for a third set of skeleton horses I guess! I hopped over to the little plains behind my starter house, perched on a tree, and waited for nature's wrath to rain down. After a few cracks of thunder, I looked around to find... A CHARGED CREEPER. I don't have my trident equipped – this poor soul just got smited by nature! In all my time playing this game, I have NEVER seen a natural charged creeper! You know what? Forget about skeleton horses. I want a creeper head out of this guy. Can I do it?

Looking down from a small jungle tree to a charged creeper in the plains.

Heck yes I can! :D (F's in the chat for the innocent sheep that got caught up in the blast.)

A large crater in the plains, with a creeper head item inside. The subtitle text indicates that a sheep also died in the explosion.

Spare creeper head in storage, I rode the hellevator and flew meekly over the nether roof to Mitosis Swamp. I've done enough today; the nether road can wait til next time! Just north of the portal, I whipped up my final flower farm: the Blue Orchid Booster. And, now having farmed every ingredient, I could craft up over a full stack (on the vanilla scale) of full stack salads, and make the switch to this superior foodstuff full time!

And not a moment too soon: it just turned night, with the full moon rising in the east! You know what that means :D

Boom! Almost 300 slimeballs to the good, and I only had to eat three times! Now THAT is flower power ✿
