Hi, I'm Lemming!
(he/him; Minecraft ign: The_Lemming_27)
I'm from Aotearoa New Zealand, a place known for raising questions about Old Zealand, having the greatest proposed flag ever, and being completely left off the map.
One thing you should know about me is that I'm the sort of person who will latch on to a game and play it FOREVER. My game collection is modest – my Steam library contains just FOUR titles. (Technically seven, though I'm not counting remasters and standalone expansion campaigns.) But trust me, I invest far more time than is healthy into this hobby... XD I just have a specific taste for highly replayable games. Here's a sample of my gaming resumé, as it were:
- Lemmings (hence the name :D)
- Age of Empires II
- Pokémon (Gen 1-3)
- Rome: Total War
- Civilization 4
Now, you may be wondering, who in their right mind would replay Lemmings? Well, the wonderful folks at Lemmings Forums! They create and share custom-built levels, and do challenge runs of the official levels like "how few builders can you beat this level with?". I used to be a regular there, but I burned out and stopped posting many years ago. I still remember it fondly and sneakily check in once in a while :D
With a gaming history like that, it was only a matter of time before this up and coming cube world sandbox would catch my attention. My Minecraft story started like so many others, with the OG Let's Plays. For me it was X's Adventures in Minecraft. Enthralled by this blocky land and its endless possibilities, I picked up the game in November 2010, with the Halloween update that first added the Nether dimension to the game.
I used to play on Peaceful mode and just explore. (Creepers were SO annoying before they added sprinting!) Once in a while a major update would drop and I'd start a fresh world to see what was new. I never really built much though, just wandered around and collected stuff, and none of these worlds stuck for more than a couple of months.
During Covid lockdowns I joined a server and started playing survival for real. I learned from other players – and Youtube tutorials – how to fight, farm, and trade my way to wealth and power... for what that's worth in a PvE sandbox. It was the best gaming experience of my life... at first. But time and again, the server's activity would fade, and my motivation with it – and then the world would reset, talking my builds as well.
Come 2025, I heard about the "forever world" trend and decided to give it a go myself. And then I discovered the indie web and thought, why not combine the two? I always wanted to give this web design thing a crack, and now I have a real project to try it out with :D
So yeah, thanks for reading, and have fun exploring The Mines!

- Lemmings (1991) and Lemmings Forums for Lemmings-related resources
- W3Schools, GeeksforGeeks, and MDN for their extensive web dev docs that have helped me piece this site together!

Inspiration
Creators I've discovered on my journey who have "crafted" me into the Minecrafter and internet person that I am today 🌟
- Luvstar (Website/Youtube) for the Forever World concept and advice on how to run one, AND their indie web content that encouraged me to try building my own site!
- Broken Halo, the best SSP journal I've found to date, for showing that you don't need video to tell your Minecraft story
- X's Adventures in Minecraft for getting me into the game at the beginning
- Too many Minecraft Youtubers to count! I'll be here forever if I try to list everyone I've watched (and filter out the problematic ones), so I'll shout out just one more:
- Xisumavoid for his incredible work on update videos, feature testing, Vanilla Tweaks, and of course running the legendary Hermitcraft SMP. Plus being a voice of reason in the community, as demonstrated in his XisumaSays series.
- The technical community, who have created entire new avenues of gameplay through their engineering genius. Go watch any of Gnembon's "Fun Farms" videos and tell me you aren't awestruck. (Individual farm builds are credited in their respective journal entries.)
- Every server I've played on and everyone I've met there! RIP to Macroverse, Hipercraft and Piecraft – and shoutout to Playhouse SMP :D
- xkcd for the idea to put fun mouseover text on all the pictures :P
- Jaiden Animations for her iconic video about the aroace experience. Safe to say I figured out A LOT from this video and subsequent exploration of LGBT+ topics (though I'm still new in the space and far from an expert!)
