Author's Note: I've been putting extra focus on the website at the time of playing this segment, hence the time gap! This entry comes just after the Under Construction post and my first sharing of this website outside my inner circle! Exciting times :D ~ Lemming
Good morning and happy Day 600 everybody! I bring news of a wonderful discovery – or, rather, rediscovery. It's about the resource pack that changes the colour of ancient debris. I thought it had gone missing because I couldn't find one online with the same name, but no! Far from going missing, the pack has been expanded with a WIDE selection of pretty colours, including TWO shades of purple! Of course, the name has changed to reflect this, and I didn't connect the dots until I went looking through the old download links and, sure enough, there's the Original Green Ancient Debris from the 1.16 era. So yeah, a belated credit to Coloured Ancient Debris by TheEnderCore!
I've taken this newfound purpleness as a sign to continue work on my purple path. My amethyst avenue. My lavender lane. My via violetta. How many more alliterative ways can I say this? I've designed a road out of inconvenient indigo materials, and I'm committed to connecting my builds with it! Which means it's time to cheat with Freecam scour the depths of the Elaville underground for more geodes that I can hollow out for their chiming crystal blocks.
It turns out the eastern end of the island holds a motherlode of mauve crystals, with three moderate-to-large geodes in close proximity. One of these is near the zombie well spawner, so I started tunnelling from there and made a path linking them all. Along the way, I added lighting to a few of the deeper caves that were still filling with mobs after my earlier spawnproofing efforts. Over a few sessions, I carefully picked apart the geodes for their bounty, exposing all the edges of the budding blocks without actually BREAKING those blocks! It is TOUGH to focus on this task, which is why I suggest only taking on one at a time!
Back to the surface to expand the road network. Oh yeah, I also made another trip to the eastern desert to mine a batch of sand for concrete powder. And cooked up some chorus fruit for purpur blocks. I really picked the most impractical blocks for this project, huh? Anyway, I laid down my luxurious crystal road up to the farming district. And then from the other end of the farm all the way to my starter house – an unbroken stretch of 130 blocks. Like I said, COMMITTED >_<
Then I went back to Elaville to road up all the connections. A short section from storage to the villager breeder. A curved path from the portal, via the netherwart patch, around the south side of the hill to Elaville House. And another fork from the portal, via the back of the library and the front of the cleric building, around the north side of the hill to the stable – with a little offshoot path into the lush cave.
At the stable, I ran a test to answer a vital question: do you still get the lovely amethyst chime when you ride a horse over amethyst blocks? The answer: sort of? Weirdly, this sound seems to scale with Friendly Mobs volume rather than Blocks volume. I usually have friendly mobs really quiet because they get annoying, and also because minecart sounds fall under this for some reason and these are STUPIDLY loud. Can't a sensitive human have their happy amethyst tingles without the grating industrial noise? Maybe another mod can fix this...
